Lawn and Garden Tools

Lawn and garden tools are essential equipment for the gardener. Whether it’s a small spade to plant flowers, or a giant motorized lawnmower to cut down an acre of grass, these tools allow the gardener to do a good job.

Lawn and garden tools come in all types.

A large square or spade shaped shovel, in various sizes and handles, are the most basic when it comes to planting.   Rakes and hoes, tree and shrub clippers, grass and bush shears: these are standard equipment. The shears and clippers also come in electric or automated products, designed to make tasks easier and faster.

The noise generated from mechanical devices might be distracting to the puritan gardener. No one likes a serious gardener who gets up at six in the morning to mow their lawn and trim their hedge! Some gardeners even prefer their lawn and garden tools to be manual instruments – so they can feel the work. Gardening is generally an anaerobic exercise, so breaks and other workouts may be recommended. Don’t forget where you placed your lawn and garden tools!

Of course, these tools are sharp and should be handled with care, and away from animals and children. Protective gear like pants, rubber or padded knee straps and gloves are recommended. A hat’s a good idea. For someone doing some serious shearing, protective eye wear might be a good idea too.

Lawn and garden tools are a necessary component to being a good gardener. Though there are fancy automated tools these days, nothing beats good old manual tools and some outdoor activity.
