Get Down to the Roots With A Plug Lawn Aerator

For stubborn lawns, plug lawn aerators can make all the difference between yellow grass and a lush green lawn.

Unlike the varieties of spiked shows available, a plug lawn aerator not only opens up the ground, it removes the compacted plug of earth created. These holes in your lawn help the roots come in direct contact with light, water and air.

Periodically aerating your lawn can produce thicker, fuller grass with fewer weeds. The best time of the year to use your lawn plug aerator is in the fall. Loosening the soil and reseeding in the fall can make for a lush, green lawn next spring and summer.

Many garden cultivators and roto tillers have lawn aerator attachments or blades, which means you don’t have to buy or rent a separate machine. Run the aerator slowly over your yard or garden, and take care to keep your pattern straight. This will ensure even distribution of much-needed air, water and light to the root systems below.

There are a number of types of plug lawn aerators available today, so be sure to shop around and get exactly the right sized machine for your yard or garden. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for safety, proper cleaning and maintenance.

If you have heavy traffic areas or just grass that won’t grow thickly, a plug lawn aerator could make all the difference this year!
