How do you prepare your Garden Tools for Winter?

Winter is that time of the year when you practically pack up your garden tools and store them away for months.The sad thing is that if you don't prepare your garden tools properly and store them well, you will wind up with garden tools tat have been severely damaged

So many visitors to this site have asked me this question. I live in the tropics and so I have no experience whatsoever with preparing garden tools for winter so I'm turning to you our esteemed readers to share your experiences with other readers.

I did some asking and I came up with some ideas so I could add my bit to this sharing process.

So here's what I found out:

Tips to prepare power garden tools for Winter:

1. Remove the petrol(or gas).

2. Empty the radiator and fill it with antifreeze solution.

3. Remove the plug caps.

4. Detach the batteries for electric ones.

Tips to prepeare sprinklers and drip irrigation systems for winter:

1. Turn off the water supply.

2. Drain all water from the tubes.

3. Remove all sprinkler nozles.

4. Turn off any automatic switches.

Tips to prepare other garden tools for winter:

1. Remove all dirt and clean the tools.

2. Wash and dry them if apossible.

3. Apply a coat of oil on them.
