Sharpening lawn mower blades doesn’t have to be difficult. Make sure your lawnmower is devoid of fuel (or not plugged in.) A safe thing to do for petrol engines will be to remove the plugs before you continue. Be sure to have a block, or stopper, so the blade you’ll be sharpening isn’t moving around, and stable. Of course the best idea when sharpening lawn mower blades is to remove them and work on them from a workbench, or even a solid piece of ground. Although home repair shops, skate sharpening or sharpening salesmen are helpful (they have automatic sharpening tools), you can do the job yourself. The price of a simple whetstone is all you need, and a good 20 minutes with human dexterity and perseverance. Apply the whetstone not too harshly in a circular
motion, 10 degrees perpendicular towards the edge of the blade. This process
shouldn't be too physically demanding.
