Which is the best Watering Hose?
It's difficult to say which is the best watering hose. So many modifications have come on over the years that have succeeded in transforming it into a versatile garden tool. Some people even get them for washing cars and not for gardening.
Watering hoses are usually made of rubber or vinyl and traditionally have brass connectors. However, connectors made of plastic and other metal alloys are now available. There are also some attachments you can get to make garden watering more fun.
Some Features to look out for
Length - Buy a hose that is long enough to get to the farthest place on your garden. It is good to measure the distance before you buy the hose.
Material - Those that are reinforced with layers of mesh in between the 2 rubber layers last longer than ordinary ones. They don't kink and they can withstand the weight of the car tyres.
Tap Attachments - When getting attachments, make sure they are strong and fit snugly around the end of the hose. If they don't you should get a metal clip that will be used for attaching them.
Plastic attachments are fine but not as strong as metal attachments. Whenever you get a metal attachment, make sure it's rust-proof.
Watering wands - This can be a useful tool when attached to the end of a watering hose. Get one that can deliver different spray patterns.
If you get a lawn sprinkler make sure the diameter at the connection site and that of the hose fit. If they don't fit, you'll have water everywhere except the garden.
Reels - Moveable hose reels are good if you have a large garden and different water points. Reels that can be fixed to the wall are good if the hose can get to every part of the garden from its location. They also save you some storage space.
